Hey, German-speaking types...
I have the wonderful responsibility of teaching myself German this year. Can either (any?) of you recommend a good grammar book, a good starting point, if you will? I'm so excited about my entry into the world of actually spoken languages that aren't 2000 years old!

I don't know about teaching yourself with it, but Hammer's Grammar is awesome for reference. As for textbooks, can't give you any real recommendations; all mine have made me miserable.
I'm thinking about taking a class on German, Scantron. If you wanted to commute over here, we could work together. Alternatively, we could give each other tests and get the Austis and Madreeeeeeee's of the world to give us the answers! I love fun!
Whoa, whoa, Robot, I can handle "funny" and I can handle "super nice," but "fun loving" too? That is just too much! Who could ever claim so much fun for himself? You surprising man!
