Mmmm, Smells Like Bacon

I just came across this insane video of a UCLA student being repeatedly tazed by his university police. Apparently the student was in the school library after 11 pm, when officers asked him to show them his student ID card to prove he was a UCLA student. He did not have his ID on him and was asked to leave. The student did not leave as quickly as the officers would have liked, so an argument arose and then they repeatedly tazed him in front of a library full of stunned onlookers. I would not be surprised if in the morning this story is national ‘news.’

Here’s the video, it’s pretty painful to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP_M8s0GFEc

Something to look out for: right after his first tazing, the student screams, “Here’s your fucking Patriot Act! Here’s your abuse of power!” (As a hippie killer, I support the officers’ actions; yet as Josh, I see their actions as quite disgusting.)

What makes this event even more crazy, is that the student’s name is Mostafa Tobatabainejad. Yup, not some rich white kid at all...

I smell a lawsuit (and sizzling human flesh). When Mostafa gets his pay day, he’d better send the kid who recorded the entire ordeal on his cell phone a nice thank you card.

what was he reading that they wanted him out of there so badly? the anarchist's handbook? the koran? the sequel to the da vinci code?

unrelated (sort of), but this reminds me of something i read quite a while ago about an 'other' (said-ian sense) student in texas getting arrested and (i think) tazed when he had the audacity to question anne coulter's politics during an open-question session at his university's assembly. wish i could remember the guys name. maybe one of you can repost the story if you come across it?

They "nailed him" in the traditional tazer sense.

This merely confirms my theory that far better than the Youtube videos are the comments posted on Toutube: ranging from the funny "taze him again," to the infantile "The cops asked him to leave and he refused, I hear he wasn't even a student and wasn't supposed to be there. Is this the truth? I also think the cops abused their power," to the plain offensively stupid, "this country is slowly slipping into Nazi Germany."

There is that moment in the video, though, when the cops seem pretty fucking scared a riot is going to break out. It must be fairly difficult to just stand silently while someone is being tazed for not standing up.
